My Story

My Story

I grew up on the North Shore of Auckland, New Zealand. I had an interest in running growing up before I was talent spotted through physical testing by The Peter Snell Institute of Sport at the age of 13. They were sure that I would make a good track cyclist. Even though it was a sport I knew very little about I decided I would give it a go, I was offered 8 lesson's over a few weeks to give it a go guided by the legend track coach Neil Ludlum. It turned out that I wasn't too bad and ended up getting a Scholarship to continue for the year where I went on to race u15 National Champs in Invercargill.

From then on I never looked back and it became a huge part of my life. I joined Rangitoto School Cycling team where I would race the Auckland School TTT winter series and go on to race Nationals. I was in a mixed team with the boys as there weren’t enough girls to make a team with. Racing with the boys pushed me really hard and I believe it was the key to my success throughout the junior racing I would do. I loved racing the junior tours on the road in the winter such as Te Awamutu Tour, Bev May Tour, Rotorua Tour, Hawkes Bay Tour and Yunca Tour where I would always finished on the podium. This helped me get selected for the Junior Worlds where I represented NZ on the track in 2010 in Italy where we finished 3rd in the TP. I raced Junior Road and track worlds the following year in Russia where I was 2nd in the IP and 6th in the Time Trial in Denmark.

After finishing school in 2011 I had a year of training and working at my Dad’s factory to save some money to race in Europe the following year. In 2013 I signed with an Italian Road team called BePink where I raced and lived in Europe for the season. I won two u23 jerseys and finished 17th in the Giro d’Italia. In 2014 I focused on track and competed in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. In 2015 I headed back to BePink for another season on the road. In 2016 I turned my focus back to the track for the Rio Olympics. In 2017 I signed with the Australian team GreenEdge where I spent the following 6 years living in Spain and racing all over Europe. I finished my career with a year at EF-Tibco-SVB racing La Vuelta, Giro d'Italia and Tour de France Femmes. I joined the team as I wanted to share my knowledge of racing and guide the team to come together and support each other.

I’ve had many up’s and downs in my career. I've raced some of the biggest races in the World and have been apart of big team results and had a few of my own. I’ve overcome RED-S as well as broken bones and concussions. I believe everything has made me who I am today, giving me so much resilience and strength. In combination with my level of experience I've completed a certificate in Sports Coaching to further my knowledge to mentor and train athletes to perform at their highest level.
